Greatest Individual Sport Feat? Didn't anyone remember Eric Heiden?
Many people thought Lance Armstrong was the greatest - Ali already holds that name.... Yes, Lance did the unthinkable - without his team willing to let him be the leader he didn't stand a chance.... What Heiden did in the 1980 Olympics is win every speedskating event at the Olympics - 500, 1000, 3000, 5000, 10,000 - all Gold. Our country needed a moral boost and team sports in the US rule - and the hockey team was pure gold! If you think Heiden was worried about being over-shadowed by the hockey team -- he was their biggest fan! Heiden grew up playing hockey with a couple of the hockey team members and never missed a game!
Imagine winning the following events in the summer olympics - 100, 400, 1500, 10,000 and the marathon - if someone did that they would achieve the equvilent of Heiden's feat during the 80 Olympics - never had it been done and never will it be repeated....
all before the use of such wonderful muscle enhancements!
