What's the best software to notate the music for all instrument parts for a guitar/bass/piano band?
I want to transcribe music to musical notation that has drums, bass, guitar, piano, and vocals. I'd like to have all of the instruments (I'm mainly concerned about the bass, guitar, and piano) on the same page. Obviously there will be multiple staffs, but I want to find a program where I can add each instrument on different staffs, then play it all together. What's the best software to do this with? Thanks!
I'm partial to Sibelius. The Student edition is $99. Finale also has a nice engraving package, though a bit more cumbersome. You can get finale notepad (a very limited program) used to be free, now costs $10, Allegro is Finale's middle ground program.
Notion is an other up-and-comer in the music engraving market.
There are others ... do a search on "music engraving software" and you'll be rewarded with all the options for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux.
