How much will it cost for me to get my guitar string fixed?
I live in seattle, and im planning to go to guitarcenter to get my acoustic guitar string fixed. how much will it cost me? also i snapped the E string, is all the E string the same on all guitar or different?
If one string breaks, it's a very good idea to go ahead and change all the strings.
Strings don't break unless they're getting old and corroded...unless there's a problem with a burr cutting into the string, which is rarely the case with acoustic guitars. This is usually a problem more asscoiated with electric guitars because of the metal nuts etc..
Get a good light guage phospher bronze type set...usually the high E, the thinnest string, will have a guage of about 12. An 009 is way too light for an acoustic guitar...that's more of an electric guage string.
I prefer D'Addarios, but that's personal choice.
It's probably time to start learning how to change your own strings.
One other note...if you change your strings, it's generally considered best to change them one string at a time. There's no way you want to loosen every string, take them all off, and then re-string.
Changing one string at a time helps to keep the pressure and tension on the bridge and neck of the guitar. Sometimes problems can arise if you take all the strings off at once.
Best of luck...but if you take your guitar to Guitar Center, ask them if they'll show you how to change strings while they're doing it. It's not difficult once you learn a few little tricks.
