Electric Guitar Wiring?
Hello, I am wiring My 2000 Focus By Kramer electric guitar. It originally had 3 single coil pickups and 3 knobs. (I am not for sure if it had 2 volume and 1 tone, or 2 tone and 1 volume because it did not say on the knobs and I did not really plug it in and mess with them). I took out all of the pickups, 2 of them had 1 black and 1 white wire and the other one had 1 red and 1 black wire. I only want 1 pickup in it. Which pickup should I use? Also I only want to wire it to only one knob. (the one closest to the bridge) So over all I want just one knob and one pickup. (I chose the one closest to the bridge because I noticed that it had a white wire that wired directly into the output) Could someone tell me what pickup to use, where to wire that into the knob, and can i actually do a setup like this? Yeah, a little confusing. Im not sure why you want to disconnect the other pickups, but if you just want 1 pickup (and 2 empty spaces) and one knob (and 2 empty spaces) then you have to make sure that your knob is a volume knob. The volume (pot) and tone pots differ, so they are not interchangable. As for which pickup to use, the ones with the black and white wires are probably the neck and middle pickups (lower output). The one with the red and black is most likely the bridge pickup. You can use any of the pickups anywhere, but they will have a different output, but will all work. The black wires are likely to be the grounds, and the white/red wires are the hot/signal. The ground goes to the back of the volume pot. The red/white wire goes to either outer leg of the volume put. Depending on which one you go to depends on which way the pot works... but it will work either way. The center lug of the volume pot is the output and that goes to your jack.
