Why do people prefere Bach instruments?
They have monel valves so eventually they will wear loose and have valve shake. So why exactely do people like them if they wear our so easy?
Bach trumpets have been riding on the reputation of Vincent Bach's old trumpets for decades now. Their diminishing quality goes far beyond their use of monel in the valves, which is actually relatively prevalent throughout different brands.
People prefer Bach instruments because today's classical sound concept is founded on the sounds of the previous orchestral players that played on Vincent Bach's original horns. To be fair, many people, classical and otherwise, have begun to switch over to other brands, often Yamaha or Monette. No valves are perfect, and all will wear over time and lose compression, so it's not so much of a problem what the plating material on the valves is.
