My piano pedal just broke?
I was playing when I suddenly heard a big Crack noise, and my sustain pedal wouldn't rise anymore.
I opened the piano to check out what was wrong and I noticed the vertical bar on the left wasn't connected to the lower part of the pedal anymore.
The problem is that the tip of that bar usually has a plastic part on it, which connects to the lower parts, but that piece just broke.
My question is, where can I find another piece like that that I can use the to fix it? (My piano's brand is Hyundai btw.)
Unlike all the other answers here, I think you can do a temporary remedy of this yourself.
The pedal rod isn't the most critical part of the action. Chances are that the dowel (if it uses wood) or metal post just failed. You can improvise a temporary mechanical fix for the connections.
Older uprights just used a wooden dowel with a headless screw at either end to connect the damper rail at the top and the pedal trap work at the bottom. Find something similar to make the temporary repair and have the tuner come out to make the proper repair and regulate the motion of the pedal.
... whatever you do, don't modify the actual parts though. Sawing the wood, or welding to the metal would definitely void your warranty.
