Delay/effect machine for saxophone performance?
I'm performing saxophone a lot. But I need a little more like delay (echo) so witch effect machine is good to buy ?
There are any number of delay devices out there. Any of them will work. The problem is that you will need to use a microphone to run into the delay effect. Most delay pedals and rack mount units use a standard 1/4 inch mono cable input. (guitar cable). So you will need to use a microphone with either a built in 1/4 inch jack or with an adaptor to change the 3 pin XLR cable (standard for microphones) into a 1/4 inch phono plug jack. These adaptors are available from most music stores for about $20. Just about any music store can set you up with a basic delay device. They can be as low as $100 or less and go up to several hundred dollars for a basic unit. There are also "looping" pedals that will allow you to play a phrase and "loop" it in a continuous playback mode while you jam over it. These pedals can be a lot of fun to mess with. Boss makes several different delay pedals with the loop capability. Just go to your local music store and tell them what you need. They will ask what kind of mic set up you are using and try to give you the appropriate unit for your needs.
