Good bridge pickup for Fender Tele?
I have a Fender Telecaster '79 reissue which has a humbucker in the neck and a single coil pickup in the bridge.
I always seem to be using the humbucker solo because it's sound good but when I mix in the single coil to go with the humbucker it seems to make a muddy sound with the distortion im using. Im wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a single coil pickup that would work well with heavier music that I could equip with the humbucker. Heavy for me is not metal like slipknot and all that. The heaviest I would ever play would be Thrice. More post-hardcore type of stuff and some punk influences mixed in.
Or would it be a better investment just to get a humbucker put in the bridge and drill out the body to equip a dual humbucker system.
I wouldn't get into all of that routing, if i were you. They make killer single coil sized humbuckers for Tele. I have a Duncan Hot Rail for my old tele. Excellent pick up. Although, I have owned 3 sets and probably 4 single replacement pick ups for my axe, which I swapped in and out for years. I now use Fender Custom noiseless...
